Windmill at Whitburn

This was painted using a photo taken with a very long telephoto lense as reference. It is a view from Seaburn that picks up the older buildings in Whitburn in winter sunshine with a dark threatening sky behind. I painted with a limited palette of titanium white, yellow ochre, burnt and raw umber, raw sienna ultramarine blue and a touch of cadmium red. It gives a very unusual view of the windmill and winter feel.
 
Canvas size 24cm x 27.7cm. 
Quality oil paint on birch ply, prepared with W and N acrylic primer/ground.
Signed and dated front, unvarnished, unframed.
